Jeffery Lamar Williams II, better known as Young Thug, is an American rapper recognized for his unconventional vocal delivery and bold fashion. Emerging from Atlanta, he became a key innovator in hip hop and trap music, helping to pioneer the mumble rap sound. Young Thug began his rise in 2011 with the I Came from Nothing mixtape series and gained wider notice after signing with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records, releasing 1017 Thug in 2013. His breakthrough came in 2014 with the singles Stoner and Danny Glover, as well as prominent features on hits like T.I.’s About the Money and Rich Gang’s Lifestyle. He continued his momentum with acclaimed projects, including Barter 6, the Slime Season series, and his work with Rich Gang. In 2017, he reached global audiences as a guest on Camila Cabello’s Havana, and in 2018 he won a Grammy for his contribution to Childish Gambino’s This Is America. Young Thug’s debut studio album So Much Fun topped the Billboard 200 in 2019, featuring successful singles such as The London and Hot. He later achieved solo success with Go Crazy alongside Chris Brown and continued to chart with collaborations like Franchise with Travis Scott and Way 2 Sexy with Drake and Future. He has also released the albums Punk and Business Is Business, as well as the YSL compilations Slime Language and Slime Language 2. In 2022, Young Thug was arrested on charges including racketeering. After a lengthy legal process, he was released in 2024 and announced his fourth studio album, UY Scuti, marking his comeback. Through his distinctive artistry and numerous collaborations, Young Thug remains an influential force shaping the sound of modern rap.
