The Jesus And Mary Chain

The Jesus and Mary Chain are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in East Kilbride in 1983, led by brothers Jim and William Reid. Known for pioneering the shoegaze and noise pop genres, their sound is characterized by melodic pop hooks layered with feedback and distortion. The band rose to prominence with their critically acclaimed debut album Psychocandy and achieved major UK chart success with Darklands and its hit single April Skies. Throughout their career, they have released several notable albums and singles, gaining a dedicated following in both the UK and US. After a breakup in 1999, the band reunited in 2007 and made a strong return with Damage and Joy in 2017, followed by the top ten album Glasgow Eyes in 2024.
