The Bangles are an all-female pop rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1981 by Susanna Hoffs and sisters Vicki and Debbi Peterson. Rising to fame in the 1980s, they are best known for their catchy hits such as Walk Like an Egyptian, Manic Monday, Hazy Shade of Winter, and the chart-topping ballad Eternal Flame. Their music blends jangly guitars and power-pop melodies, shaped by influences from the 1960s rock scene. After gaining critical acclaim with their debut album All Over the Place, they achieved massive success with Different Light in 1986. The classic lineup featured Hoffs, the Peterson sisters, and bassist Michael Steele. Following a breakup in 1989 after their peak success, the Bangles eventually reunited, continuing to record and perform together, with founding member Annette Zilinskas rejoining in 2018.
