The Tech 21 Geddy Lee YYZ Shape-shifter Signature SansAmp is a powerful bass pedal designed in collaboration with Geddy Lee, the legendary bassist of Rush. Here are the key features:
- Analog SansAmp Technology: The YYZ Shape-shifter allows you to record directly and enhance previously recorded tracks. For live performances, it can drive a power amp and speakers, augment your existing amplifier setup, or run directly into the mixer of a PA system.
- Blend Clean and Dirty Tones: The mix control lets you blend high-end studio clean tones (“Deep”) with dirty bass tube amp tones (“Drive”). This versatility allows you to dial in the perfect sound for any situation.
- Selectable Boost Function: The pedal includes a selectable Boost stomp switch that provides a 12dB presence boost for increased top-end distortion. Engaging the Shape-shifter button adds 6dB of Schmegilka (according to Geddy Lee, an “indefinable thing of awesomeness!”).
- Drive and EQ Controls: Adjust the overall gain and overdrive with the Drive knob, similar to pushing the output section of a tube amp. The active 3-band EQ lets you fine-tune your tone.
- Built-in Speaker/Cab Simulation: The SansAmp Tube Amplifier Emulation technology covers the entire signal chain, from pre-amp to power amp to speaker simulation. It complements any guitar or bass speaker cabinet system, providing a smooth, even response.
- Compact Design: The pedal measures 9.5 cm x 12.1 cm x 5.1 cm and can be powered by a 9V alkaline battery or an optional DC power supply.
