Sodom

Sodom is a thrash metal band from Gelsenkirchen, Germany, formed in 1982. Led by bassist and vocalist Tom Angelripper, the group has undergone numerous lineup changes, with Angelripper remaining the core member. The current lineup features Angelripper, Frank Blackfire Gosdzik and Yorck Segatz on guitars, and drummer Toni Merkel. Counted among the Big Four of Teutonic thrash metal alongside Kreator, Destruction, and Tankard, Sodom has had a major impact on the German metal scene, influencing both black and death metal genres by blending aggressive and dark sounds. The band rose to commercial prominence with the album Agent Orange in 1989, and has released sixteen studio albums, with The Arsonist released in 2025. Sodom stands among the best-selling thrash metal acts in history, with over two million records sold.
