Roxy Music

Roxy Music

Roxy Music is an English rock band formed in 1970 by Bryan Ferry and Graham Simpson. Known for blending glam rock with sophisticated musical and visual styles, the band quickly gained success in Europe and Australia during the 1970s. Their early lineup included Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera, Paul Thompson, and Brian Eno, whose innovative use of synthesizers contributed to the band's unique sound. Roxy Music influenced early punk and new wave, and their stylish image set them apart in the music scene. The band experienced several lineup changes, especially in the bass and synthesizer roles, and shifted to a core trio of Ferry, Mackay, and Manzanera by the 1980s. After periods of splitting and reuniting, Roxy Music released their final album, Avalon, in 1982, achieving major success in the United States. The group reunited for tours in the 2000s and marked their 50th anniversary in 2022. Both Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno have also had notable solo careers. In 2019, Roxy Music was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
