Limited-S is a high-quality De-Esser, Enhancer, and harshness controller designed for both mixing and mastering applications. Unlike traditional De-Essers and Dynamic EQs that rely on compressor-type Attack/Decay level detectors, Limited-S utilizes a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter to precisely calculate the signal envelope at all times. This eliminates the need for tedious Attack and Decay adjustments, ensuring consistent and transparent de-essing results.

Limited-S employs a fixed-threshold approach, operating on peak signal levels similar to a limiter. This method avoids tracking the overall signal and attenuating what it perceives as excessive sibilance, which can lead to overcompression and unnatural lisping artifacts. Instead, Limited-S targets only the most prominent and offensive sibilance peaks, providing precise control without compromising natural sound. Automation of the threshold parameter is also available for customized control over sibilance reduction.

In stereo mode, Limited-S can process the entire mix, Mids, Sides, or Left/Right channels individually. This versatility caters to both mixing and mastering applications. For instance, Limited-S can effectively de-ess vocals in a master mix while leaving the sides unaffected.

The integrated High Lift control enables the addition of brightness to a mix while simultaneously taming excessive high frequencies. This feature proves particularly useful for enhancing vocals or brightening a master mix.

Limited-S also incorporates a Sidechain input, allowing one signal source to "duck" the highs in another signal source. This functionality can be utilized to prevent cymbal crashes from overpowering vocals, maintaining clarity and balance in the mix.

Limited-S automatically switches between mono and stereo modes to optimize CPU usage based on track requirements.
