Kokoroko is a London-based seven-piece band led by Sheila Maurice-Grey and Onome Edgeworth, known for their vibrant blend of funk and highlife influences. Rising to prominence with their viral track "Abusey Junction," which received widespread acclaim and millions of views, the group quickly became recognized as key innovators in the UK jazz and Afrobeat scene. Accolades include winning Track of the Year at the Worldwide Awards and Best Group at the Urban Music Awards. Their debut album, Could We Be More, was released in 2022 and featured on The Guardian's top albums of the year. In 2025, Kokoroko followed up with their sophomore album, Tuff Times Never Last, further cementing their reputation for energetic, genre-blending music. The band's name comes from an Urhobo word meaning to be strong or unbreakable, reflecting the spirit of their sound.
