Everything but the Girl is an English musical duo formed in 1982 in Kingston upon Hull, featuring lead vocalist Tracey Thorn and multi-instrumentalist Ben Watt. Known for their sophisticated blend of pop, jazz and electronic music, they rose to global fame with the 1994 hit single "Missing," which became a worldwide success after being remixed by Todd Terry. Over their career, they achieved a series of UK chart hits, including the top-three singles "I Don’t Want to Talk About It" and "Missing," with the latter also reaching number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. The pair received numerous gold and platinum awards in the UK and US and gained critical acclaim for albums such as "Walking Wounded" in 1996. After a long hiatus that began in 2000, Thorn and Watt returned in 2023 with "Fuse," their highest-charting album, celebrated for its innovation and depth.
