The 1964 SG Standard with Maestro Vibrola recreates one of the most beloved SG model years of all time — the 1964 SG Standard. While this model was famously played by legends like George Harrison and Eric Clapton, 1964 marked a significant turning point for the SG in general.

By this year, the less intuitive Sideways Vibrola had been replaced with the more dependable Maestro Vibrola. The neck profile had also increased slightly from the ultra-thin versions found on earlier SGs, and the guitar’s balance, playability, and looks had truly come into their own. 1964 was also the first full year the SG was no longer branded with the Les Paul name.

Now, Epiphone proudly introduces the 1964 SG Standard Reissue with Maestro Vibrola — a stunning recreation of that iconic model. Developed in collaboration with Gibson Custom, this is the most faithful Epiphone reproduction of the 1964 SG Standard ever released.

All the classic features that define the '64 SG are present:

• A one-piece mahogany neck with a long neck tenon for improved stability and sustain

• A SlimTaper neck profile for fast, comfortable playability

• A bound rosewood fretboard with mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays

• An aged mother-of-pearl Epiphone logo and Gibson crown inlay on the vintage-style “open-book” headstock

The center-seamed, two-piece mahogany body features the distinct bevels that define the SG’s classic shape — lightweight, comfortable, and unmistakably vintage.

The electronics are just as impressive:

• Two USA Custombucker humbuckers with Alnico 3 magnets

• Hand-wired CTS potentiometers

• Black Beauty paper-in-oil capacitors

• Switchcraft pickup selector toggle and output jack

Finished in Vintage Gloss and paired with nickel hardware, including Epiphone Vintage Deluxe “Double Ring” tuners, this guitar offers both beauty and tone true to its era.
