Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley, known as the "King of Rock and Roll," was an American singer and actor who became one of the most influential cultural icons of the twentieth century. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee at age thirteen, where he soon launched his music career at Sun Records in 1954. Working with producer Sam Phillips, Presley fused country music and rhythm and blues to help pioneer rockabilly and bring a new sound to mainstream audiences. His energetic and provocative performance style, influenced by African-American music, quickly made him a star and sparked both widespread popularity and controversy. With his first major hit, "Heartbreak Hotel," in 1956, Presley topped the charts and became a defining figure of the emerging rock and roll movement, with a loyal following and a string of major hits. Beyond music, Presley starred in films such as Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas, further cementing his legendary status. After serving in the US Army, he made a highly successful comeback in the late 1960s, with celebrated television specials and headline performances in Las Vegas. Despite personal struggles later in life, Presley remained a hugely popular performer until his death at his Graceland home in 1977. Elvis Presley is one of the best-selling artists in history, with around 500 million records sold worldwide. His achievements include three Grammy Awards, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and posthumous honors such as the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Presley holds numerous chart records and remains an enduring symbol of American music and culture.
