Bananarama is an English pop group that formed in London in 1980, originally featuring Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey, and Keren Woodward. Known for catchy pop and dance hits, they became famous for songs like Cruel Summer, Venus, Robert De Niro’s Waiting, and Love in the First Degree. Bananarama achieved major chart success in both the UK and US, earning a spot in the Guinness World Records for the most UK chart entries by an all-female group. After Fahey’s departure in 1988, Jacquie O’Sullivan joined until 1991, when the group became a duo. Throughout their career, Bananarama released dozens of singles and albums, received Brit Award nominations, and were central to the Second British Invasion of the US. They are also known for participating in iconic charity singles, such as Do They Know It’s Christmas and Help. The group continues to perform, with Fahey returning for special reunion tours.
