Andrew Gold was an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer known for shaping the Los Angeles pop and soft rock sound of the 1970s. He played a key role in Linda Ronstadt’s recordings and scored hits of his own with "Lonely Boy," "Thank You for Being a Friend," and "Never Let Her Slip Away." In the 1980s, he formed the duo Wax with Graham Gouldman of 10cc, finding international success. Gold also wrote and produced music for films and television, including the theme for Mad About You. His work gained renewed attention when "Thank You for Being a Friend" became the theme for The Golden Girls, and his song "Spooky, Scary Skeletons" became a viral sensation years after its release.
