Anaïs Mitchell is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and playwright known for her evocative storytelling and innovative approach to folk and theater. She has released eight studio albums, including Hadestown, Young Man in America, Child Ballads, and her self-titled album Anaïs Mitchell. Mitchell transformed her album Hadestown into a Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway musical, earning acclaim for her songwriting and originality. She is also a founding member of the folk supergroup Bonny Light Horseman, whose albums have further showcased her talent. In addition, Mitchell is the author of Working on a Song: The Lyrics of Hadestown, and was named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People in 2020.
