Altın Gün is a Dutch-Turkish band from Amsterdam known for blending psychedelic rock with Anatolian folk traditions. Founded in 2016 by bassist Jasper Verhulst, the group formed when he brought together Dutch and Turkish musicians through a social media call. Their music fuses funky rhythms, wah-wah guitars, and vintage organs, reimagining classic Turkish folk songs with a modern psychedelic twist. The band's debut album On came out in 2018, followed by Gece in 2019, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album. Altın Gün has continually evolved their sound, incorporating synth-pop and electronic influences in later albums like Yol and Âlem, the latter supporting environmental causes. After their American tour and features on major soundtracks such as Star Wars Jedi Survivor and an Apple TV ad, Altın Gün has remained a prominent name in global psychedelic music. In February 2024, vocalist Merve Daşdemir left the band after eight years to pursue new projects.
