Zubin Mehta

Zubin Mehta, born in 1936 in India, is a renowned conductor of Western classical music. He is music director emeritus of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor emeritus of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Coming from a musical family, Mehta was trained by his father, the founder of the Bombay Symphony Orchestra, and continued his studies at the Vienna State Music Academy. Mehta quickly rose to international prominence, conducting major orchestras from a young age. He served as music director for the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He became Music Director for Life of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and was chief conductor of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence for over three decades. Highly decorated, Mehta has received honors from cities and major opera houses internationally, including honorary citizenships, prestigious awards, and leadership titles. He remains an influential figure in classical music, known for his extensive guest conducting and dedication to musical and cultural exchange.
