GRAN CODA represents a new concept in virtual grand piano design.
For the first time, a virtual instrument has been developed in direct collaboration with a piano manufacturer—Fazioli Pianoforti of Sacile, Italy.

Recorded at the Fazioli Concert Hall, GRAN CODA features a meticulously prepared F278 concert grand, maintained by Fazioli’s own technicians. This particular F278 model is the resident piano of the hall and was inaugurated in 2005 by renowned Italian pianist Aldo Ciccolini.

Paolo Principi captured the instrument using three microphone setups:

• Close – ideal for jazz and pop production

• Side – preferred for classical repertoire

• Binaural – recreating the pianist’s position within the hall

The virtual instrument was evaluated, tested, and approved by Fazioli technicians in their laboratories.
For all these reasons, GRAN CODA remains the only virtual piano officially authorized by Fazioli.
