Francesco De Gregori OMRI, born April 4, 1951, is an acclaimed Italian singer-songwriter celebrated for the sophistication of his lyrics. Widely known in Italy as "Il Principe dei cantautori," or "The Prince of the singer-songwriters," he is admired for his artistry and lyricism. Though often described as a poet and singer-songwriter, he prefers to be recognized simply as an artist.
