The ALPINA SKYWALSH V has a self-tinting (photochromatic) varioflex glass that covers protection levels 1 through 4. This guarantees high visibility even in changing light conditions, and even reaches glacier standard with protection level 4. Shutters on the straps prevent scattered light from coming in through the side – an essential safety feature in the mountains and on glaciers in order to prevent eye damage. The 2 component design ensures the glacier glasses fit well and are comfortable to wear. The hard rims are robust and lend stability to the ALPINA SKYWALSH, the soft, rubber-coated strap ends and nose pads make it comfortable to wear the glasses.

Decentered lenses

Mirror

• Mirror is a lens on which multiple reflective layers are applied. They provide protection from harsh glares and infrared light. Mirror is not only the feature of a highly functional lens, it’s an element of style.

Optimized Airflow

• Heavily domed lenses envelop the face perfectly. They protect the eyes from draughts and cold and improve vision. The indirect air flow also prevents the lenses from fogging up.

Fogstop

• All Alpina ski goggles have a Fogstop coating. This is not smooth but rough - on a microscopic level. This prevents moisture from forming a closed layer. So the lens doesn’t fog up and the view remains clear.

Varioflex

• Varioflex is a lens technology in which the lens tint automatically adjusts to the weather. The self-tinting (photochromatic) lens reacts to visible light. When exposed to radiation, chemical elements open up and create a flat, darkening effect. When the light intensity decreases, the chemical elements close and the lens becomes brighter again. This process takes seconds. The result: a lens for a wide variety of light conditions.
