Al Green, born Albert Leornes Greene in 1946, is an influential American soul singer, songwriter, pastor, and record producer. Rising to fame in the early 1970s, he became known for classic hits like "Let's Stay Together," "Tired of Being Alone," and "Love and Happiness." Following a personal tragedy, he became an ordained pastor and shifted his focus to gospel music before later returning to secular soul. Green's rich voice and emotional delivery made him a defining figure in Memphis soul, especially through his partnership with producer Willie Mitchell and the Hi Rhythm Section. He is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, has won 11 Grammy Awards, and is recognized as one of the greatest soul singers of all time.
