Moondrop Moondrop Para 2 Hi-Fi Headphones

The Moondrop Para 2 is a full-size open-back planar magnetic headphone built around a large 100 mm diaphragm with FDT (Full Drive Tech) and an N55 magnet array optimized by finite element analysis. Its 9 Ω impedance and 106 dB/Vrms sensitivity make it easy to drive, while dual 3.5 mm cup connectors, a 6N single-crystal copper 4.4 mm balanced cable and a 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm adapter keep it compatible with a wide range of sources.

  • 100 mm planar diaphragm, 1.2 μm thin, with secondary diaphragm stress balance technology
  • N55 magnet array optimized by FEA for a uniform driving force
  • Ultra-low distortion: THD ≤0.03% (@1 kHz, 94 dB)
  • Magnetically attached sheepskin earpads for simple replacement

Moondrop Para 2 — Full-Size Planar Headphone with a 100 mm Diaphragm

The Moondrop Para 2 is a full-size open-back planar magnetic headphone designed around a large 100 mm diaphragm and Moondrop's FDT (Full Drive Tech). The 1.2 μm ultra-thin diaphragm uses secondary diaphragm stress balance technology, and an N55 magnet array optimized by finite element analysis drives it evenly. Scientific tuning gives a natural timbre, a smooth wide-band response and ultra-low nonlinear distortion.

What Sets the Para 2 Apart

High sensitivity and a low 9 Ω impedance make this planar easy to drive from portable DAC/amps as well as desktop amplifiers. The integrated driver-cavity structure keeps the headphone lightweight yet strong, and the full stainless steel brushed finish follows a Bauhaus-inspired industrial design. The sheepskin earpads attach magnetically, so they are simple to replace.

Technical Specifications

  • Driver: 100 mm planar magnetic diaphragm, FDT (Full Drive Tech), 1.2 μm thin
  • Impedance: 9 Ω ±15% (@1 kHz)
  • Sensitivity: 106 dB/Vrms (@1 kHz)
  • THD: ≤0.03% (@1 kHz, 94 dB)
  • Frequency Response: 20 Hz – 42 kHz (IEC61094, Free Field), effective 20 Hz – 20 kHz (IEC60318-4, -3 dB)
  • Connectivity: dual 3.5 mm earphone jacks, 6N single-crystal copper cable with 4.4 mm balanced plug, 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm adapter
  • In the Box: Para 2, 2 pairs of earpads, 4.4 mm balanced cable, 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm adapter

Who the Para 2 Is For

The Para 2 is the right choice for listeners who want the speed and low distortion of a large planar driver without needing a powerful desktop amplifier. The universal dual 3.5 mm interchangeable cable design makes cable upgrades straightforward, and the included 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm adapter covers single-ended sources, so the headphone fits both a portable setup and a home listening desk.

Construction Method

Construction Method: Open

These open-back headphones are designed to provide a natural sound experience that is unique in its width and spaciousness. Compared to closed-back headphones, the open design allows for better reproduction of high and mid frequencies, resulting in a more accurate and detailed sound image. The open design makes the sound rich and spacious, ideal for discerning listeners who want to enjoy high-quality music or movies in a home or studio environment.

Frequency Range

Frequency Range: 20 Hz - 42 kHz

The frequency response 20 Hz - 42 kHz provides a wide enough range to capture all the fine musical and sonic details.
