ICONIC

THE ONLY SYNTH COLLECTION FEATURING THE SOUNDS OF THE WORLD’S BEST-SELLING SONGS

ICONIC stands out as the only synth collection that showcases sounds from the world’s best-selling songs, played and programmed by the original artists and producers. This level of authenticity is unparalleled!

In collaboration with Anthony Marinelli, the synth genius behind Michael Jackson's Thriller, EastWest ensures that every sound in ICONIC remains true to the original productions of the world’s mega hits. By sampling rare vintage synthesizers such as the ARP 2600, Minimoog Model D, Oberheim OB-X, Sequential Prophet 5, Yamaha CS-80, and the Synclavier II, EastWest has meticulously recreated some of the most iconic sounds in music history, transforming them into modern virtual instruments.

ICONIC features an intuitive user interface centered around an FX Pad with four selectable Macro Effects, allowing for simultaneous modulation of multiple parameters. The design combines vintage knob-per-function aesthetics with modern styling, ensuring all controls are easily accessible on a single page. Users can shape these legendary synth sounds using dual filters, an advanced 16-step arpeggiator, multi-mode portamento (glide), and a variety of effects to enhance, distort, delay, and spatialize the final sound.

While ICONIC captures synths and sounds from classic songs that have sold hundreds of millions of copies, it also embraces a contemporary sound. After recording these rare synthesizers in the historic EastWest Studio 1, the producers utilized analog tape machines, including a tube Studer J37, to create tape saturation and harmonic distortion for a modern twist. Additionally, the instruments were re-amped in EastWest Studio 2, employing multiple mic positions to blend studio sound with direct sounds, a technique famously used by Thriller's recording and mixing engineer, Bruce Swedien.
