D'Addario DZ314 4/4M G Violin Strings

Synthetic-Core Stability for the 4/4 Violin G String

When a violin's G string starts to feel thin, lose warmth, or drift out of tune every time the weather changes, the D'Addario Zyex Single G String offers a purpose-built replacement for full-size (4/4) instruments. Built on a new generation of synthetic multifilament core, this G is engineered to remain "incredibly stable under drastic climatic conditions" — a meaningful upgrade for players who gig across venues, travel with their instrument, or simply struggle with humidity-sensitive gut strings. Within a matter of hours of fitting, the string settles in on the instrument with a sound the brand describes as warmer than other synthetic-core options, giving the lower register a richer, more grounded voice. Sold individually, it lets a player replace a single worn G without committing to a full set, or mix it into a custom string combination.

Who It's For

The D'Addario Zyex Single G String is the right choice for violinists who need a reliable, climate-stable G string that warms up quickly and holds pitch across changing performance conditions. D'Addario positions the Zyex line for students, intermediate players, and professionals, while independent reviewers describe the strings as having strong projection, a bright and clear character, and well-balanced tension that retains bow response at any dynamic. Medium tension suits the majority of advancing students and amateur players on standard 4/4 instruments, and the synthetic core makes the G particularly appealing for players who gig in venues with variable humidity or who want a low-maintenance alternative to gut. Built at D'Addario's New York production facility, this single G is a practical upgrade or replacement for any full-size violin.
