D'Addario XLB055 Single Bass String

D'Addario XLB055 Nickel Wound Bass Guitar Single String — .055 Gauge, Long Scale

The D'Addario XLB055 is a single replacement bass guitar string in the .055" gauge, drawn from the XL Nickel Wound line that has been called "The Player's Choice" among bass players across genres. Each string is round-wound with nickel-plated steel wrap wire on proprietary digitally controlled winding machines, which keeps intonation, tension, and tone consistent from one set to the next. The result is a string with clear fundamentals, distinctive bright character, and excellent magnetic output for the pickup. Designed for long scale basses with a string scale length of up to 36 1/4 inches, this single works equally well as a drop-in replacement for a worn or broken string or as a building block for a fully custom gauge set. Manufactured in the U.S.A. under D'Addario's environmentally friendly packaging standards.

Who Is It For

The D'Addario XLB055 is the right choice for bass players who need a dependable .055" replacement string on a long scale four-, five-, or six-string bass. It suits anyone whose factory D string has worn out, snapped, or lost its brightness, and it also fits players who prefer to mix individual gauges to dial in a custom feel and tension across the set. The bright, articulate voice of round-wound nickel-plated steel works well for rock, pop, funk, slap, and session playing, while the consistent winding quality keeps note-to-note clarity reliable on stage and in the studio. A practical pick for any bassist who trusts the D'Addario XL series for tone, longevity, and string-to-string balance.
