D'Addario J5901 4/4M A 4/4 Cello Strings

Pro-Arte Synthetic Core Cello A String — Warm Tone, Stable Tuning

The D'Addario Pro-Arte Cello Single A String is a 4/4 scale replacement string designed for cellists who want a warm, mellow voice without sacrificing tuning stability. Built around a proprietary multifilament synthetic core, this medium-tension A string is engineered to hold its pitch through the humidity and temperature swings that would send a natural gut or plain steel string drifting. Because the core is synthetic rather than gut, the string also breaks in quickly and responds cleanly under the bow from the very first rehearsal. The Pro-Arte A string is the right choice for cellists who want a low-tension, easy-playing A that still projects with warmth and clarity.

Who This String Is For

The Pro-Arte Cello A string is built for students, advancing players, and intermediate cellists who want a reliable replacement A that won't fight them in changing rehearsal-hall conditions. Its lower-tension profile suits younger players still developing left-hand strength, while the warm, mellow character also appeals to chamber musicians looking for a blendable, vocal A in ensemble settings. Because the synthetic core resists humidity-driven pitch drift, this string is a smart match for cellists who travel between venues, practice in basements, or perform in spaces without climate control. The ball-end fitting streamlines installation on any standard 4/4 cello, making it a practical single-string replacement for the J59 Pro-Arte full set.
