D'Addario J814 1/8M G Violin Strings

D'Addario Prelude Single G String for 1/8 Size Violin

The D'Addario Prelude Violin Single G String, 1/8 Scale, Medium Tension is a replacement string engineered specifically for fractional-size violins played by younger students and advancing beginners. Built on a solid steel core and wound with nickel, this G string delivers the warmest tone available in the Prelude line, making it a natural fit for school programs, private studios, and rental fleets. The 1/8 scale playing length of 241 mm matches the shorter vibrating length of fractional violins, ensuring proper tension and accurate intonation on smaller instruments. Unaffected by temperature and humidity changes, the string maintains stable pitch and excellent bow response across changing classroom and rehearsal conditions. D'Addario Prelude is widely recognized as the educator's preferred choice for student strings due to its blend of warm tone, durability, and value.

Who This String Is For

This G string is designed for students, teachers, and parents outfitting 1/8 size violins used in Suzuki programs, school orchestras, and beginner-level private instruction. Medium tension suits the majority of players, offering a balanced feel under the bow without excessive finger pressure for small hands still developing technique. Its versatility spans classical training, fiddle styles, jazz exercises, and alternative repertoire, making it a practical single-string replacement when a G string breaks or wears out before the rest of the set. Manufactured at D'Addario's New York production facility, this string carries the same quality standards as the full Prelude line and ships in a sealed pouch that protects against corrosion during storage and transport.
