D'Addario J1013 1/2M G 1/2 Cello Strings

D'Addario Prelude Cello G String — 1/2 Scale, Medium Tension

The D'Addario Prelude Cello Single G String in 1/2 scale is a drop-in replacement designed for fractional-size cellos used by younger players and school orchestra programs. Built around a solid steel core and finished with the line's signature blue silking at the ball end, this G string delivers the warm, focused low end that the cello depends on for its foundational voice. A unique damping process used in every Prelude string tames harsh overtones, giving students a tone that sounds musical from the first bow stroke. Medium tension keeps the left-hand feel comfortable for developing technique without sacrificing the resonance the G string needs to anchor an ensemble. Because the line is engineered for durability and pitch stability under shifting humidity and temperature, the string holds its tuning through long rehearsals and changing practice-room conditions.

Who It's For

This single G string is the right choice for student cellists, school orchestra programs, and rental fleets that need a reliable, durable replacement for fractional-size instruments. Its medium tension suits developing players who are still building left-hand strength, while the solid steel core and stable pitch behavior stand up to the temperature and humidity swings common in practice rooms, rehearsal halls, and home environments. Teachers and parents looking to replace a single broken or worn string on a 1/2 size cello without buying a full set will find this single-string format practical and economical. Because Prelude strings are crafted in D'Addario's New York facilities and are widely regarded as one of the best-sounding student string lines available, this G string offers a consistent, ensemble-ready tone that helps young cellists sound their best while they focus on technique.
