D'Addario J1011 1/8M A 1/8 Cello Strings

The D'Addario Prelude Cello A String for 1/8 Size Cellos

The D'Addario Prelude Cello Single A String in 1/8 scale, medium tension, is purpose-built for the smallest cellos a beginner will encounter. Designed around a solid steel core and finished with a nickel winding, this A string delivers the warm, mellow character that has made Prelude the educator's preferred choice for student strings. It is sized to fit cellos with a 48 cm playing scale, making it the correct replacement for fractional 1/8 instruments used by the youngest learners. Engineered to remain stable through humidity and temperature changes, the string keeps its tuning and tone consistent from one lesson to the next. A solid blue silking at the ball end ties this model to the rest of the D'Addario orchestral string family.

Who This String Is For

This 1/8 scale Prelude A string is the right choice for beginner and early-stage cellists playing a 1/8 size instrument, and for the teachers and parents who set up those instruments. It suits young learners who need a string that stays in tune through classroom humidity shifts and that responds cleanly under a developing bow technique. Teachers will appreciate that the medium tension matches the needs of the majority of student cellos, while the solid steel core and nickel winding give a warmer, more focused sound than typical factory strings. Because the string is designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA under D'Addario's strict quality controls, it offers the durability needed for daily practice and frequent re-stringing during the early years of study.
