D'Addario NYL029W Single Guitar String

D'Addario NYL029W Classical Single String for Replacement and Custom Setups

The D'Addario NYL029W is a single replacement string designed specifically for classical and flamenco guitars, sized at .029" (0.74 mm) to match the standard D-string position in normal-tension sets. Built around a nylon core wrapped with silver-plated copper wire in a round-wound construction, this string delivers the warm, balanced bass response classical players rely on. Sold individually rather than as part of a full set, it solves the common problem of a single worn or broken bass string — players no longer need to replace an entire pack when only one string has failed. The tie-end fitting matches the traditional tie-block bridge found on most classical guitars, so installation follows the same knotting method used for any standard classical bass string. Made in the USA under D'Addario's Specialty Singles line, this single is also a practical choice for luthiers and players building custom gauge sets or extending a standard six-string setup to seven or eight strings.

Who This String Is For

The D'Addario NYL029W is the right choice for classical and flamenco guitarists who need a single replacement string at the standard D-string gauge without buying a complete set. It suits players on normal-tension setups who have broken or worn out one bass string and want a matching diameter and tonal character to the rest of their set. Multi-string classical guitar owners — including seven- and eight-string instruments — will find it useful as a sub-bass option, since D'Addario's Specialty Singles line is widely recommended for non-standard configurations. Luthiers and techs building custom gauge sets also rely on this single to dial in specific tensions for individual players. As a tie-end string with traditional nylon-core construction, it fits any standard classical bridge without modification.
