D'Addario KS514 4/4M C 4/4 Cello Strings

Professional Cello C String with Stranded Steel Core

The D'Addario Kaplan Cello Single C String is engineered for the full-size cellist who demands a powerful yet warm low end. Built around a stranded steel core and tungsten winding, this string delivers the rich, complex tone that professional orchestral and chamber musicians rely on. The Kaplan line was conceived for the most discerning players, offering a diverse tonal palette that responds to extreme bow pressure without losing clarity or warmth. Designed to fit a 4/4 cello with a standard playing length of 700 mm, the medium tension option sits at the sweet spot favored by the majority of advanced cellists. Whether replacing a worn C string or upgrading from a student set, this single string brings the same projection, clarity, and richness found across the entire Kaplan cello range.

Who It's For

The Kaplan Cello Single C String in medium tension is the right choice for advanced and professional cellists who need a powerful, warm low register with excellent bow response. It performs equally well in chamber music, orchestral, and solo playing situations, offering an even sound from top to bottom across the full range of the instrument. Players upgrading from student or intermediate string sets will notice an immediate improvement in projection and tonal complexity, while seasoned professionals will appreciate the short break-in time and the string's ability to stand up to demanding bow pressure. The medium tension option suits the majority of players; those seeking a different feel can mix and match with Kaplan light or heavy tension strings on the same instrument.
