D'Addario J4401 Single Guitar String

Pro-Arte Nylon Classical Guitar Single String — Extra-Hard Tension Replacement

The D'Addario J4401 is a single replacement treble string for classical guitar, designed to match the Extra-Hard tension Pro-Arté Nylon EJ44 set. It serves as the first (E) string in the set, drawn from clear nylon monofilament to deliver the sweet, mellow highs that have defined the Pro-Arté line for generations. This single string lets players replace a worn or broken E string without purchasing a full set, keeping tone consistent across the instrument. Manufactured at D'Addario's New York production facility, it benefits from the same polymer extrusion process and X-Y laser measurement used for the complete EJ44 set.

Who It's For

The J4401 is the right choice for classical guitarists who need to replace a single worn or broken first string on an Extra-Hard tension Pro-Arté set without purchasing a full replacement. It suits players who prefer the brighter projection and firmer feel of extra-hard tension — typically advanced students, performing classical and flamenco guitarists, and those seeking maximum resistance and volume from the treble. The tie-end construction matches traditional classical guitar bridge tying methods, and the clear nylon material produces the warm, mellow treble response characteristic of the Pro-Arté family.
