D'Addario H312 4/4L A Violin Strings

The Helicore A String — A Replacement Built on D'Addario's Stranded Steel Core

The D'Addario Helicore Violin Single A String, 4/4 Scale, Light Tension, is a standalone replacement for the A string in D'Addario's popular Helicore violin family. Scaled to fit a full-size violin with a playing length of 328 mm, this single string lets players swap out a worn or broken A without purchasing an entire set. At the heart of the design is D'Addario's multi-stranded steel core — a cable of braided steel wires that blends strength with flexibility and produces a clear, warm tone with quick bow response. Light tension keeps the bow feel forgiving, which makes this A string a practical upgrade for advancing students, intermediate players, and professionals who want consistent performance from a single replacement string. Packaged in a uniquely designed sealed pouch, the string arrives protected from the moisture and contaminants that shorten string life.

Who This String Is For

The Helicore A String in light tension is the right choice for violinists who need a quick-response replacement A that holds pitch reliably across changing environments. Advancing students moving up from a basic solid-core string will notice the stranded core's faster bow attack and clearer articulation on the A, while the light tension keeps the left hand comfortable during long practice sessions. Intermediate and professional players benefit from the string's excellent pitch stability, which keeps the A locked in through rehearsals, recitals, and recording sessions. The light tension option is particularly suited to players who prefer a more forgiving bow response, including those working on cross-tuning for fiddle, jazz, or alternative styles where the A needs to settle in quickly. For violinists already running a Helicore set on their instrument, this single A makes it easy to refresh one worn string without replacing the entire set.
