D'Addario H412 XLM Viola Strings

Helicore Viola D String — Stranded Steel Core for Clear, Warm Tone

The D'Addario Helicore Viola Single D String, Extra Long Scale, Medium Tension is a precision-engineered replacement string designed for full-size violas. It is built around D'Addario's multi-stranded steel cable core, in which individual steel wires are braided together to produce a flexible yet strong foundation. This construction produces a clear, warm tone with a smaller string diameter that responds quickly under the bow and settles into pitch in a short time. The Helicore D string is part of the most popular viola string line in D'Addario's orchestral catalogue, trusted by students, advancing players, and professionals across traditional and alternative styles. All D'Addario strings are designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA at the company's New York production facility.

Who It's For

The Helicore Viola Single D String is the right choice for viola players who need a reliable replacement D string with quick bow response and excellent pitch stability. It suits students working through graded repertoire, intermediate players exploring cross-tuning and alternative styles, and professionals who value the focused articulation that the stranded steel core provides. The medium tension offers a balanced feel under the bow that works equally well for classical, folk, bluegrass, jazz, and crossover playing. As a single replacement string, it is ideal when only the D needs refreshing on an otherwise healthy set, or for building a custom set tailored to a specific instrument and playing style.
