D'Addario H414 LM Viola Strings

Helicore Viola C String — Clear, Warm Tone with Quick Bow Response

The D'Addario Helicore Viola Single C String, Long Scale, Medium Tension is a dedicated replacement string for the lowest voice of the viola, sized for instruments measuring 16 inches and over. Built around a multi-stranded steel core rather than a traditional gut or solid steel construction, this C string combines a smaller string diameter with a tungsten-silver winding to produce a clear, warm tone that sits naturally under the rest of the Helicore set. The construction gives the string a quick bow response and a short break-in time, which makes it equally practical for practice sessions and performance use.

Premium quality materials and skilled workmanship give the string excellent pitch stability and longevity, so the lowest voice of the viola stays in tune across long rehearsals and shifts in humidity. Each string is packaged in a uniquely-designed sealed pouch that protects against the elements that cause corrosion, helping the string arrive in playing condition even after extended storage or shipping.

Who It's For — A Versatile Replacement for 16"+ Violas

The Helicore Viola Single C String, Long Scale, Medium Tension is the right choice for viola players who need a reliable replacement C string for a full-size instrument and want the playing feel of the Helicore family. The medium tension sits comfortably for most adult players and works well across classical, chamber, orchestral, and alternative playing styles, including jazz and folk settings where a clear, focused low voice is essential.

Players who already use Helicore strings on the upper three voices of their viola will find this C string a natural match for tone and response. It is also a practical upgrade for players moving from a basic student string to a more responsive, stable core, and for anyone whose existing C string has lost its bright, focused character. Like all D'Addario orchestral strings, it is designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA to the brand's quality standards.
