D'Addario H411 MM Viola Strings

Helicore Viola A String — Warm, Clear Tone with Quick Bow Response

The D'Addario Helicore Viola Single A String is a replacement A string designed for medium-scale violas, engineered around a multi-stranded steel core that produces a clear, warm tone with excellent pitch stability. Unlike traditional gut or solid-core synthetic A strings, the stranded steel construction blends strength and flexibility, giving the string a smaller diameter and a noticeably quicker bow response. This makes it an ideal upgrade for players seeking a focused, articulate A string that speaks immediately under the bow without the dullness or sluggishness of older string designs. The medium-tension option suits the majority of medium-scale violas, where body length falls between 15 and 16 inches.

The Helicore Viola A String is the right choice for viola players who need a versatile, responsive A string that performs equally well in classical, bluegrass, jazz, and amplified or electric viola settings. Its stranded steel core and medium tension make it a go-to option for advancing students, intermediate players, and working professionals who want a string that settles in within hours rather than days. Players switching from older gut or synthetic-core A strings will notice an immediate improvement in bow response and articulation. Because it pairs well with a wide variety of instruments and musical styles, this A string is equally at home in a school orchestra, a chamber ensemble, or a crossover performance setup.
