Behringer BCR32 MIDI Controller

The Behringer BCR32 is a USB/MIDI controller and standalone step sequencer that fuses 32 freely assignable encoders with the ZAQ Audio Zaquencer firmware. Designed as the evolution of the cult-classic BCR2000, it gives electronic music producers hands-on control of DAW parameters, MIDI instruments and modular rigs from a single desktop surface. The unit runs class-compliant over USB, so no driver installation or external power supply is required.

  • 32 multi-purpose rotary encoders — 8 of them with push-function dual mode — plus 20 programmable buttons for total hands-on control of any assignable parameter
  • Built-in polyphonic 32-step, 4-track Zaquencer with storage for up to 192 patterns and 2 independent MIDI controls per track
  • Four CV/Gate outputs and Sync connectors lock the unit to analog synths, drum machines and Eurorack rigs
  • Class-compliant USB bus power, MIDI merge, Apple iPad compatibility and a vivid OLED display with multi-colour LED feedback

USB/MIDI Controller and Sequencer for Hands-On Production

The Behringer BCR32 pairs a 32-encoder control surface with a polyphonic 32-step, 4-track step sequencer in one desktop unit. Built around the ZAQ Audio Zaquencer firmware that made the original BCR2000 a cult favourite, this model gives producers a tactile alternative to mouse-driven DAW work. Every panel element is freely assignable via manual mapping or Learn mode.

What Makes the BCR32 Stand Out

Most hardware controllers force a choice between knobs or a sequencer — the BCR32 delivers both. The Zaquencer engine runs mono or polyphonic drum and note tracks with 192 stored patterns, while eight push-function encoders add dual control inherited from the BCR2000.

Control Surface — Knobs, Buttons and Feedback

Thirty-two encoders and twenty programmable buttons drive an entire studio session without touching a mouse.

  • Rotary Encoders: 32 freely assignable multi-purpose encoders — eight with push-function dual mode
  • Programmable Buttons: 20 buttons — note on/off, CC, program change, MMC or SysEx
  • Multi-function OLED display with multi-colour LED feedback and four virtual encoder groups keeps complex mappings readable at a glance

Sequencer Engine — Zaquencer Power

The integrated Zaquencer turns the BCR32 into a standalone step sequencer that runs without a computer.

  • Sequencer Engine: ZAQ Audio Zaquencer, polyphonic — runs mono or polyphonic drum and note tracks
  • Pattern Storage: 32 steps per pattern, 4 tracks, up to 192 patterns
  • Per-Track MIDI Controls: Two independent controls per track handle Program Change, Aftertouch, Pitch Bend and CCs

Connectivity — USB, MIDI, CV/Gate and Modular Sync

The BCR32 doubles as a USB-to-MIDI interface, sitting between a computer and external gear without extra hardware.

  • MIDI Ports: 1 MIDI In, 2 MIDI Out/Thru with merge function
  • CV/Gate and Sync: 4 CV/Gate outputs (3.5 mm) plus Sync in/out
  • Footswitch Inputs: 2 assignable 6.3 mm jack inputs
  • USB: 2x USB-C, class-compliant, bus-powered — Apple iPad compatible via Camera Adapter
  • Desktop Footprint: 306 x 239 x 56 mm, 1.68 kg
