Yamaha YDP-S35 B — Slim 88-Key Digital Piano with CFX Grand Sound

The Yamaha YDP-S35 B is the slim-line model in Yamaha's ARIUS family, designed for players who want concert-grand sound in a cabinet that fits against any wall. At just 296 mm deep, this instrument slips into bedrooms, apartments, and home offices where a full-size console would dominate the room. Sampled from Yamaha's flagship CFX concert grand, the piano Voice delivers sparkling highs and a powerful resonant bass. Closing the folding lid turns the YDP-S35 B into a flat tabletop that disappears into the décor.

What makes the YDP-S35 B stand out in the ARIUS range

Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite) recreates the sympathetic resonance of an acoustic grand by simulating how string vibrations propagate through the soundboard and other strings in response to timing and pedaling. Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC) and the Stereophonic Optimizer keep the tone natural and ear-friendly through speakers or headphones during long sessions.

Graded Hammer action — authentic weighted feel for developing technique

The YDP-S35 B uses Yamaha's Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) action with matte black keytops. Weighting is heavier in the bass register and lighter in the treble, mirroring an acoustic piano and helping build proper finger strength.

• Number of Keys: 88 — full concert range for the complete classical and contemporary repertoire
• Keyboard Type: Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) with matte black keytops — weighted bass-to-treble response for authentic feel
• Touch Response offers four sensitivity levels — Hard, Medium, Soft, and Fixed — to match different playing styles

CFX concert grand sound — flagship piano Voice with realistic resonance

Sampled from Yamaha's CFX concert grand, the piano Voice includes Key-off Samples that capture the subtle sound of fingers leaving the keys. VRM Lite adds sympathetic resonance responding to pedaling and key velocity, while 192-note polyphony keeps complex passages intact even with the damper held down.

• Piano Sound: Yamaha CFX — flagship concert grand sample with detailed harmonic content
• Polyphony: 192 notes — headroom for layered Voices and sustained pedaling
• Voices: 10 — including electric piano, organ, harpsichord, vibraphone, and strings
• Effects include 4 Reverb types, Intelligent Acoustic Control, and Stereophonic Optimizer for natural sound through speakers or headphones

Pedals, speakers, and connectivity — ready to play right out of the box

The integrated three-pedal unit delivers damper, sostenuto, and soft control, with half-damper function for nuanced sustain. Built-in stereo speakers fill a room without external gear, while USB TO HOST and dual headphone jacks support practice, recording, and Smart Pianist app integration.

• Pedals: 3 — Damper (half-pedal), Sostenuto, Soft — full acoustic-style pedal control
• Amplifiers / Speakers: 8 W × 2 / 12 cm × 2 — built-in stereo system for everyday playing
• USB TO HOST, two 6.3 mm headphone jacks, and DC IN 12 V support computer connection, silent practice, and app integration
• Dimensions / Weight: 1,353 × 792 × 296 mm / 37 kg — slim console footprint for compact rooms

Who should choose the Yamaha YDP-S35 B

The YDP-S35 B is the right choice for intermediate students, returning adults, and home musicians who need an authentic weighted-key piano in a slim cabinet. Players progressing through graded exams will appreciate the GHS action and half-damper pedal, which translate directly to acoustic-grand technique. With 353 built-in songs — 50 classical pieces and 303 lessons from Beyer, Burgmüller, Czerny, and Hanon — this instrument becomes a self-contained practice studio. The 296 mm depth, soft-close folding lid, and dual headphone jacks suit apartment dwellers and late-night practice sessions.

The ARIUS line — Yamaha's accessible path to concert-grand sound

Yamaha created the ARIUS series as a more attainable alternative to the flagship Clavinova line, distilling the essentials of a real piano into a home-friendly cabinet. The YDP-S35 continues that philosophy with a slim profile echoing the original ARIUS design, updated with the CFX concert grand Voice, VRM Lite resonance modeling, and Smart Pianist app integration. It replaces the earlier YDP-S34 in the slim-format lineup.
